11.47 pc structural and cohesion fund absorption rate posted for end of 2012
The actual rate of structural and cohesion funds relative to payments made by the European Commission was 11.47 per cent (EUR 2.024 bn) at the end of December 2012, from 9.72 per cent reported at the end of November, Mediafax notes. The volume of payments made by the European Commission were, on November 30, 2012, EUR 1.867 bn, meaning that actual refunds for these even operational programmes using structural and cohesion funds in December amounted to EUR 337 M, according to data published by the Structural Instruments Coordination Authority (ACIS). Relative to the expenditure statements sent by Romania to Brussels, the rate of absorption at the end of 2012 was 14.92 per cent (EUR 2.965 bn), compared to 10.69 PER CENT ON November 30. The payments in RON to beneficiaries on December 31, 2012 were RON 20.972 bn, representing 21.85 per cent of the total EU allocation for the 2007-2013 period, compared to RON 20.062 bn (20.8 per cent of total EU allocation) end of November. The number of EU-funded projects cleared for financing was 9,222, with a total value of RON 109.656 bn at the end of 2012, the total EU contribution to their implementation relative to the 2007-2013 allocation being 77.58 per cent. The Minister for European Funds, Eugen Orlando Teodorovici, and the Labour Minister, Mariana Campeanu, made an official visit to the European Commission yesterday, to discuss the situation with the absorption of the structural funds and resumption of POSDRU disbursements. The two ministers met up with EU Commissioner for Regional Development Johannes Hahn, as well as with DG Regio (Directorate General for Regional and Urban Development) and DG Employment (Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion), Labour Ministry informs.
