15,000 viewers at Sergiu Nicolaescu in memoriam projections
The special projections in memoriam of film director Sergiu Nicolaescu, in 5 cinema theaters in Bucharest and other Romanian cities Friday and Saturday night, drew nearly 15,000 viewers, RADEF RomaniaFilm officials told Mediafax. The projections were held at the Patria Cinema in Bucharest, at the “Sergiu Nicolaescu” la cinema house in Targu-Jiu, as well as the “Florin Piersic” Cinema Hall in Cluj-Napoca, Patria in Craiova and Premiera, Ploie?ti. The free-for-all projections 10.00 pm thru 5.00 am, included “The Dacians”, “The Revenge”, “The Last Bullet” and “The Immortals”. The largest audience was recorded at Patria Cinema in the Capital. In a communique, the National Audiovisual Council (CNA) expressed its “total disaproval of the way television channels covered the death of filmmaker and senator Sergiu Nicolaescu”. The statement was made amid the Nicolaescu family’s decision to cremate the late director, according to his wish, which made unhappy both the Romanian Orthodox Church and some of his admirers who came at the Military center to pay their last respects to the deceased.
