The Prahova county seat will organize, this year too, the Festival called “Ploiesti Targ Domnsec” (“Ploiesti, Lordly Fair” – e.n.). The event will be held this weekend, and shows, medieval camps, dances, tournaments, workshops, military rituals and fighting demonstrations will take place over three days; a 10-meter giant pie will be made, too.
Being at its second edition, the festival will be held between July 13 and 15, 2018; the road traffic on the main thoroughfare of the city, Bulevardul cu Castani, will be blocked for the events that will take place during the three days. As announced by the Ploiesti Municipality, the organizer of the event, the “Ploiesti Targ Domnesc” Festival was created on the one hand from the desire to celebrate the history of the city of Mos Ploae, but also from the idea that all those who will participate in this event can be transferred to a fascinating world of stories with princesses, knights or skillful craftsmen, in a time of honor and beauty, combined with traditions, music, dance, and goodies.
This year’s festival agenda includes the “Unirea in Bucate” event dedicated to the anniversary of the Centenary of the Great Union, which aims to present the traditional cuisine specific to the historical provinces of the Greater Romania. At the same time, the municipality has prepared a number of culinary surprises for the participants in the festival, such as a 10-meter long lordly pie, as well as fish, rams and calves on spit, flavored with old spices. Other goodies that will bring the medieval charm will be the lordly sponge cake, boyar’s pies, polenta ball or goulash.
According to the program, the opening of the festival, through the medieval parade, is scheduled on Friday afternoon. Those who will participate in this event can also enjoy the following events: medieval dances, the presentation of the military equipment of some guardians, competitions between guardians, fights, archery, demonstrations of duel techniques according to medieval masters Liechtenauer, Dobringer, Mayer; a concert of medieval and traditional music, music from Europe of the 13th-18th centuries; the evening will end with a concert held by Iris. On Saturday, the medieval camps and the Handicraftsmen Fair will open, as well as the street food area.
The present audience will also be able to participate in a training school as well as in the reproduction of a medieval war game in which the participants will prove their skills in handing weaponry, in the presence of the princesses and knights. After archery demonstrations and dueling techniques according to medieval masters, at lunchtime, the audience is expected both for the presentation and especially for tasting the surprise of this new edition of the festival, namely the 10-meter long lordly pie! The event will continue until the evening with medieval dances, the presentation of the equipment of the guardians and the competitions between them, to which the audience can participate, fighting demonstrations, weapons presentation, medieval activities in camps. The Saturday evening will also end with music, first with a medieval and traditional music concert held by the “Truverii” band, followed by Concert Lupus Dacus – “Centenarium. Ca pe vremuri” (e.n. – “Centenarium. As in the Old Times”) with fragments of famous songs from the last 100 years, followed by a concert held by “Vita de Vie”. The program of the last day of “Ploiesti Targ Domnesc” will include: archery, demonstration and interactive program with the audience, demonstrations of duel techniques, fights, historical sketches; weapons presentation + full contact; medieval camp activities; the evening will also end with medieval and traditional music, as well as a concert held by Robin & The Backstabbers and Luna Amara music bands.
