ANM: Code Yellow warning of rainfalls, storms in 26 counties

The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) on Monday issued two Code Yellow warnings of heavy rainfalls and atmospheric instability to be in place in 26 counties (plus Bucharest, out of 40). According to the national forecaster, quoted by Agerpres, eight counties in south-western Romania will be hit by bad weather starting today, at 11 p.m., till tomorrow noon, with the warning to be extended until Thursday afternoon at 6 p.m. for 26 counties. Between May 13, at 11 p.m. and May 14 at noon, intense atmospheric instability will affect the counties located in south-western Romania and the hilly and mountain areas in the southern regions. There will be extensive downpours, lightning discharges, wind storms and hail, in spots. The quantities of rain will locally amount to 25 litres per square meter. According to ANM, between May 14, at noon and May 15, 6 p.m., unstable weather, namely heavy rainfalls, lightning discharges, wind storms and hail will hit the majority of Romania’s counties. In the southern and south-western areas, as well as in the hilly and mountain areas, showers will exceed 25-30 litres per sq m and 50-60 litres per sq m in spots.
