Arafat: Physicians’ exodus continues

After taking part in the inauguration of UPU – SMURD Ward at the County Hospital, Raed Arafat, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Health, stated Saturday at press conference in Alba Iulia that jobs in the health system will continue to be opened, but the exact number of open jobs will be set following an assessment of next year’s third quarter. Arafat went on to say the Romanian physicians’ exodus is still a current issue, but there have been cases where physicians wished to return to the country after their residency and “they encountered difficulties here, probably because they are upsetting the state of affairs.” On a change of topic, the Secretary of State for the Health Ministry announced three more medical units will be opened in the following two and a half years in Timisoara, Targu Mures and Iasi and their scope of activity will be handling severe burns. The project is financed with help from the World Bank.
