The fight over the presidency of the party among Blaga, Udrea and Macovei inflames spirits in all three support camps where accusations between people who, until not long ago, seemed friends, multiply.

PDL MEP Cristian Preda, a supporter of Monica Macovei’s, has announced on his blog that the PDL Arad County Organisation had disputed the organisation of the National Leadership Council (CNC) on February 23, that called the National Convention, against the provisions of the Statute. Preda says the only solution is for Vasile Blaga to resign. According to the MEP, the organisation led by Gheorghe Seculici claims a violation of article 83 of the PDL Statute which stipulates that, in the CNC, beside various categories of lawful members, delegates from the country, designated based on a participation quota considering electoral results of each county branch also participate. ‘The BPN meeting of February 1, 2012 decided that each county organisation should be represented by five members. The CNC meeting on February 23 was organised in that way. The rule of a representation quota according to the electoral performance of local organisations was thus broken’, Preda notes. ‘The battle may seem minor, but it isn’t. The Arad organisation check-mated Vasile Blaga, accused of falsifying the meeting where the conditions for the organisation of the March Convention were decided. The PDL president now needs to make a move. What will he do? After the accusation of a pretence campaign, the illegal CNC organisation and therefore the illegal Convention, that’s a heavy burden. His next move cannot be deferred too long. In my opinion, the best move would be for Blaga to resign. An interim leadership, under the Statute, should then hold a new CNC and then a legal Convention,’ Cristian Preda further states. The President of the Commission for the National Convention of PDL, Suceava MP Ion Balan, told Mediafax yesterday that the petition received from PDL Arad would be heard on Wednesday. On the other hand, PDL Vice President Sulfina Barbu yesterday noted that the complaint would be discussed by the Ethics and Statute Board of the party led by Daniel Buda.
