Targu-Mures-based chemical fertiliser producer Azomures will implement EUR 220 M worth of investment by the end of 2015 in order to become compliant with environmental norms coming into effect in 2016, the management of the plant said on Wednesday, according to Mediafax. Azomures General Manager Mihai Anitei says ammonia production installations in two plants – Amoniac III and IV will be upgraded, the urea production plant will be rebuilt, a new used water cleaning station will be set up and the granulation towers for the Ammonium Nitrate and NPK units would be rebuilt. Having started recently, the investment is aimed at curbing emissions into the environment and increasing the plant’s production capacity. The Technical Manager of Azomures, Aurel Botezan, noted that, following the investment, the quantity of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere by the two ammonia plants would considerably decrease and the ammonia and power emissions from the new plant would also drop by 50 to 60 per cent.
