Gov’t should prioritise restarting investment
President Basescu said restarting investment on European funds and the national budget should be a top priority of the Romanian Government, also sounding the alarm over rising unemployment.
‘Restarting investments on European funds and the national budget should be a top priority of the Romanian Government. You should not see a rise by 29,000 in unemployment during summer, when most of the jobs created are in the area of seasonal services. A decline in unemployment should have been expected, at least in summertime,’ Basescu said in a press statement at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace in Bucharest.
In the same context, he pointed out that foreign investment in the first six months of the year declined almost 20 per cent.
‘Unemployment is rising, Romanians are increasingly more concerned about job security and increasingly more of them are wondering whether or not they are going to lose their jobs,’ said Basescu
