Becali not selected in first group of convicts to work at Viitorul Constanta

Poarta Alba penitentiary spokesman Gabriel Botezan said yesterday that the members of the penitentiary commission selected a first group of convicts to work at Viitorul Constanta football club, owned by Gheorghe Hagi, and that Gigi Becali is not among them, reports Mediafax. He said that the commission will meet again next week and will select a new group of convicts to work at the club. Botezan said that “up to ten convicts” are part of the first group. The day before, Poarta Alba Penitentiary had agreed to a request forwarded by Viitorul Constanta sports club for labour convicts, a contract being signed between the two institutions on the same day. Spokesperson for the National Penitentiaries Administration Monica Pana claims that the club request did not include nominations, as this is forbidden by the penitentiaries regulations. Pana said that if the names of some particular convicts had been included, the request would have been rejected right away.
