Billy Idol: “I am irrevocably split between darkness and good”

The concert takes place on June 29 at the Roman Arenas in Bucharest, an event organized by Events.

“Dancing with myself,” Billy Idol’s autobiography has now an official launching date, October 7, 2014. Therefore, the rock legend Billy Idol meets his fans in Romania on June 29 at the Roman Arenas in Bucharest during a concert organized by Events.
In the foreword, the star says: “I came to New York in the spring of 1981 with my Country Gentleman guitar in one hand, a suitcase in the other, my pink Elvis-style jacket in the trunk and the rest of the belongings in the backseat. Surely this city, with its skyscrapers touching the ozone layer reaching heights never touched before could welcome another foreigner from abroad, another fearless explorer facing his unsure future. The skies lighted up upon my coming to America that first night with falling stars and with a strange halo effect that might have been the man on the Moon laughing on my boldness. Almost 33 years later, I came to you again with a story to tell. You knew me as Billy Idol, the rebel that brings Hell on Earth, who has lived his life to the full, sometimes more than life allowed him to do it. But it is me as well, William Albert Michael Broad, a kid from the working class of the London suburbs: a dreamer with his nose in a book all the time, cursed with too many feelings, too great dreams and too deep sadness. Life gave me a golden key when I fell in love with rock ‘n ‘roll (I owe it to the music in my Irish mother’s blood) and a whole new world opened up for me. This world brought every opportunity and every temptation there is, along with excess all the way. I am irrevocably split between darkness and good, I am a rebel and a saint, a sexual maniac and a monk, a poet and a priest, a demagogue and a populist. I put down in my lyrics each fragment of my heart.”
