Bosch – EUR 70 M investments in Romania in 2013, 700 new jobs in 2014


The German group Bosch reached a turnover of EUR 212 million in Romania last year. As compared to 2012, the sales volume went up by 18 percent last year, and they aim a 3 to 5 percent advance for this year as well.
“2013 was a major year for Bosch in Romania, through the solid development of all the group’s activities. Besides, we have significantly strengthened our presence on the Romanian market and we also want to continue our expansion and consolidation of our activity in the upcoming years,” said Mihai Boldijar, Robert Bosch General Manager for Romania yesterday, during the annual press conference of the company, on which occasion the German investor celebrated 20 years on the local market.
He also said that Bosch made acquisitions of EUR 112 million in 2013 from the Romanian companies they are working with here, and this year acquisitions of EUR 133 million are forecast.
The German group invested EUR 70 million in Romania last year, especially to finish the automotive technology plant in Cluj and to expand their plant at Blaj. They invested EUR 50 million in the latter’s lineal technology unit employed in mechanical engineering over the past years, and the number of employees is going up this year from 800 to 1,000.
The latest plant opened is the aforementioned automotive technology plant in Cluj, opened on May 9 after investments in amount of EUR 77 million. 350 employees are working there and by the end of the year it will be 750.
The communication centre in Timisoara was expanded last year where 400 people are working at the moment, providing support services in 19 languages.
Bosch used to have about 1,700 employees at the beginning of 2014, in the four locations in Romania. By the end of the year, the number of employees in Romania will exceed 2,400 people,” said Boldijar.
