The Rolling Mill based in Braila will resume production from August 4, after the company had been conserved and no longer operated since December 2012, when it was managed by Mechel, the current Braila Rolling Mill owner Invest Nikarom announced on Monday. During the conservation, only 20 of the 300 Rolling Mill staff have been retained in order to provide maintenance and security. Invest Nikarom decided to re-start the mill at a capacity in keeping with the contracted orders. Thus, an overall 10,000 tonnes has been scheduled for the early stage, half of it being hot rolled bulb flats, required by the shipyards and the other half being light and medium-weight profiles chiefly aimed at the building industry. The raw material will be supplied by the current production of the Special Steel Plant based in southern Targoviste. As many as 234 persons have been employed in order to resume the activity; they will be involved in starting and supplying the rolling lines. mAt present, 128 persons are already carrying out the required works for repair, overhaul and preparing the production facilities. Based on the results obtained after the early production stage, the company will decide the strategy for the upcoming period.
