Bundesliga: Dortmund succeed in style at Bayern

Borussia Dortmund remain three points clear of local rivals FC Schalke 04 in second place after winning 3-0 at champions FC Bayern Munchen – the hosts’ heaviest defeat in any competition since a 5-2 reverse to Dortmund in the German Cup final in May 2012, according to uefa.com. Dortmund got their revenge after losing 3-0 at home to Bayern earlier this season. Josep Guardiola’s side have now dropped eight points in their three games since claiming the title. Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s smart angled finish gave BVB the lead and Marco Reus poked in a second after a swift counter early in the second half. Jonas Hofmann lashed in a long ball to complete the scoring. Bayern’s misery was compounded when Rafinha was sent off late on. Also in the week-end, Real Madrid CF moved up to second in the Spanish Liga with a 4-0 triumph over UD Almeria that was preceded by FC Barcelona’s 1-0 defeat by Granada CF. Barcelona, ousted from the UEFA Champions League by Club Atletico de Madrid in midweek, would have gone above Diego Simeone’s side and to the top of the league with victory against Granada. As it transpired, however, they dropped to third, a point off both capital clubs. Atletico are top thanks to their superior head-to-head record against Madrid.
