The President of the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIB) Sorin Dimitriu has met the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Romania, Daulet Batrashev, who was accompanied by the First Secretary of the Embassy, Chingiz Kemel.
At the opening of the meeting, Dimitriu made a brief presentation of the Bucharest Chamber, underlining the recognition that the organization enjoys in the country and abroad, and pointing out a number of particularities of the CCIB activity. In this context, Univ. Prof. Eng. Sorin Dimitriu, Ph. D., stated that the development of the economic and trade relations with Kazakhstan is a priority in the Bucharest Chamber’s foreign relation strategy.
According to the President of the Bucharest Chamber, organizing in Bucharest a “Week of the Kazakhstan products in Romania”, followed by an economic mission led by CCIB in Kazakhstan, could be an excellent formula for a better knowledge of the companies in the two countries, in order to identify business and investment opportunities and projects with real chances to be completed and to bring benefits to both of the parties.
“I am sure that the Chamber system can contribute to the stimulation and amplification of the trade exchanges, as well as university exchanges. We wish to have a constant presence on the Kazakh market, therefore we take into account for CCIB TO open a representative office in your country, doubled by a permanent exhibition of products and services provided by Romanian companies, following a model that was successfully tested in the countries of the Persian Gulf region” stated Univ. Prof. Eng. Sorin Dimitriu, Ph. D.
His Excellency Daulet Batrashev appreciated the potential of the Romanian market and expressed the interest of his country in developing the economic and trade relations with Romania. The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan expressed his full openness to the projects presented by the CCIB President, underlining the necessity to identify the areas of interest for the companies in the two countries.
The Kazakh Ambassador spoke about the economy of his country, highlighting the real opportunities of collaboration, especially in the fields of: IT & C technology, oil and gas industry, infrastructure, agriculture, transport and health. H.E. Daulet Batrashev pointed out that Romanian businessmen who are interested to invest in Kazakhstan will benefit from access to the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan).
In the first 11 months of 2017 (available data), the trade exchanges between Romania and Kazakhstan amounted to USD 1,152 million (a 31% increase compared to the similar period of 2016), of which the import from Kazakhstan amounted to USD 1,122 million (+36.9% compared to the previous year), while the Romanian export amounted only to USD 30 million (-49.6% compared to the similar period of 2016).
