Centennial anniversary of three scales-tipping WW I battles: Princess Margareta, Prince Radu on Royal Train trip on July 11


Princess Margareta and Prince Radu will travel on July 11 on the Royal Train from Focsani to Onesti, in a gratitude trip to mark the centennial of the great battles of Marasesti, Marasti and Oituz.

The royal family’s journey is planned on the starting date of the first of the three WWI battles – the Marasti offensive; the royals will attend short reception ceremonies in the Focsani, Marasesti, Adjud and Onesti rail stations and will take part in solemn events at the Mausoleums of Marasesti and Marasti, as well as at the Oituz Heroes Cemetery, the Press Office of King Mihai I informed in a release on Thursday.

The Royal Train will set off from Focsani at 10:45 hrs and will make the first stop at the Marasesti rail station at 11:25 hrs.

The royal family will then take part at the Marasesti Mausoleum in a flower-laying ceremony at 11:45 hrs, followed by a similar solemn event at the Marasti Mausoleum at 13:10 hrs, the source informed.

The Royal Train will make a second, 10-minute-stop at the Adjud station at 15:30 hrs, and the third at the Onesti station at 16:20 hrs.

The day’s concluding event will be a solemn flower-laying ceremony at the Oituz Heroes Cemetery at 16:50 hrs in memory of the Romanian soldiers fallen on the battlefield.

The July 11 Royal Train trip is organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport.
