The Danube will be under Code Orange for floods from Thursday morning until June 1 on the area Calafat-Zimnicea, and until June 3 downstream from Calarasi, as the warning affects nine counties, according to the National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management (INHGA). The Code Orange warning is available between May 29, 2014 at 6 am and June 1, 2014 on the sector downstream from Calafat-Zimnicea (counties Dolj, Olt and Teleorman) and between May 29, 2014 at 6 am and June 3, 2014 at 6 pm on the sector downstream from Calarasi (Calarasi, Constanta, Ialomita, Braila, Tulcea and Galati counties). The warning on this sector aims primarily the sectors with local defense dams. From Thursday to June 3 it will be a Code Yellow warning on the sectors downstream SHEN Portile de Fier (Iron Gates) – Calafat (Mehedinti and Dolj counties) and downstream Zimnicea – Calarasi (Giurgiu and Calarasi counties). A Code Yellow warning will be available between June 1 at 6 am and June 3 at 6 pm on the sector downstream of Calafat – Zimnicea (Dolj, Olt and Teleorman counties). The moment the forecast phenomena will occur on the Romanian sector of the Danube will be significantly influenced by the manner of exploitation of Hidrocentrale Branch (SHEN) Portile de Fier, according to INHGA warning.
