Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister Titus Corlatean is attending the informal “Snow Meeting” January 10-11, 2013, an event organized by the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Trakai each January. According to a press communique posted on the MAE website, this year’s edition will take place amid Lithuania holding the rotating EU Council Presidency in the second half of this year and the 10 year anniversary of the adoption of the European Security Strategy, with emphasis on European security issues and Eastern neighborliness developments. Corlatean will deliver an allocution entitled “10 years of European Security Strategy – does it still serve this purpose?” The informal “Snow Meeting” will be attended by foreign ministers from Northern, Baltic, Central and Western Europe countries, as well as think-tank delegated and opinion makers from Europe and the US. On the fringes of the event, FM Titus Corlatean is due to meet with his Lithuanian counterpart, the agenda for talks including issues of mutual interest, with an accent on economic cooperation, the holding by Lithuania of the EU Council Presidency, the European Policy of Good Neighborliness, energy Security of the EU and NATO expansion.
