CSCI survey: Arafat, Isarescu, Oprescu and Ponta in top of confidence


37 percent of the Romanians have much and very much confidence in mayor of Sibiu Klaus Iohannis, 34 percent,
in former Premier Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, 21 percent in chairman of the Civic Force Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu, 20 percent,
in President Traian Basescu, and 17 percent in leader of PNL Crin Antonescu.

Secretary of State with the Ministry of the Interior Raed Arafat is trusted by 68 percent of the Romanians, Governor of the National Bank of Romania Mugur Isarescu, by 48 percent, Bucharest General Mayor Sorin Oprescu, by 38 percent, and Premier Victor Ponta (PSD), by 37 percent, says a survey made by the Infopolitic Centre of Study and Research (CSCI) and quoted by Agerpres.
As for a possible second round of voting of the presidential election, the survey showed that PNL chairman would lose in a confrontation with Victor Ponta, Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, Sorin Oprescu and Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu. Thus, Isarescu would be voted for by 80 percent of the Romanians and Antonescu, by 20 percent, if the two men were face to face in the second round of voting of the presidential election.
PM Ponta would be voted for by 75 percent of the Romanians in a possible second round of voting in the presidential election with first vice-chairman of the Democratic Liberal Party Catalin Predoiu (PDL), who would get 25 percent. Ponta would also be preferred by 72 percent of the Romanians in the second round of voting in the presidential election and Antonescu, by 28 percent. The same percentage of votes, 72 percent, would go to Sorin Oprescu too in the second round of voting in which Crin Antonescu, 28 percent, took part too.
Calin Popescu-Tariceanu would reap 71 percent in the second round and Crin Antonescu, 29 percent, Isarescu would get 68 percent and Ungureanu, 32 percent, in a possible second round of voting of the presidential election.
Also an IRES poll says that Tariceanu would win presidential elections ahead of Antonescu.
42 pc of Romanians would vote for USD in EP elections
If elections for the European Parliament were held next Sunday, four in ten Romanians – that is 42 percent – would vote for the Social Democratic Union (PSD, PC, UNPR), 14 percent would vote for the PNL, and 13 percent for the PDL, CSCI pool informs. According to the above-mentioned research, 8 percent of the voters would go for the People’s Movement Party (PPM), 7 percent would cast their ballot for the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR), 5 percent for the People’s Party Dan Diaconescu (PPDD) and 11 percent would prefer other formations that are not likely to pass the electoral threshold.
