The currency and deposits of non-residents in Romania went up by 880 million euro (23.7 per cent) the second half of this year, to 4.596 billion euros, according to the statistic data on Romania’s international investment position, drawn up by the National Bank of Romania.
In the same period, the direct investments of Romanian abroad residents totalled 1.056 billion euros, on June 30, 2014, increasing by almost 10 million euros from the end of the first half of this year, out of which participating interests stood at 480.70 million euros, down by 13 million euros.
The portfolio investments of the debt securities type totalled 1.526 billion euros, at the end of the first half of 2014, declining by 340 million euros from March 31, 2014. In the same period, the equity-type portfolio investments went down by 77 million euros, to 766.9 million euros.
The long-term loans and credits of Romanian abroad residents reached 2.072 billion euros, slightly increasing from the previous quarter, and the loans and credits on short term stood at 5.786 billion euros, by 231 million under the value registered on March 31, 2014.
