The founder of the Intact media trust Dan Voiculescu and his daughter Camelia were sent to court, alongside CEO of Antena TV Group SA Sorin Alexandrescu and Serban Pop, the former head of the National Tax Administration Agency (ANAF), in the file related to the alledged blackmail of RCS&RDS Manager Ioan Bendei.
According to the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA), Sorin Alexandrescu was sent to court over blackmail charges, while Dan Voiculescu and his daughter have been accused of serving as an accessory to this offense, DNA reports in a press release on Tuesday. George Daniel Matiescu, managing director of Intact Publishing SRL, is also accused of complicity in the same file. In addition, the prosecutors have sent to court SC Antena TV Group SA and Intact Publishing SRL over blackmail charges, and SC Antena 3 SA for complicity.
The case will be examined by the Bucharest Appeal Court, with all defendants being tried without imprisonment.
