Diana Nemes, heard by the DNA

Diana Nemes, placed under preventive arrest after her extradition from the US, was brought to the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) yesterday morning in order to be heard in the EUR 15 M tax evasion case in which she is investigated alongside her husband Radu Nemes, Sorin Blejnar and Codrut Marta, judicial sources state, being quoted by Mediafax. We remind our readers that Diana Nemes was heard for the first time by anticorruption prosecutors on May 7, after she was extradited from the US. On the same day, the Bucharest Court of Appeals (CAB) confirmed that she was placed under 30-day preventive arrest and decided that she will be locked up from May 7 to June 5. Diana Nemes appealed against the decision on May 9 and asked the Supreme Court to be released, arguing that she is eight-months pregnant and she did not evade prosecution. The High Court judges rejected Diana Nemes’s appeal and ruled that she should remain under preventive arrest, the decision being final.
