Dinamo Bucharest one step away from losing license

Coach Stoican: Sports criterion should take precedence in order to play in Europa League.

Dinamo coach Flavius Stoican stated on Monday that the sports criterion should take precedence in this case, commenting on the decision taken by National Licensing System Director Viorel Duru to propose the rescinding of Dinamo’s license for participation in Europa League. “What can I say? It’s not a piece of news on our liking. I don’t know whether this is about meanness; there are probably documents that make him act this way. It’s not easy for us, we would be glad to play in Europa League, this is what we worked for in the past year, this is why we wanted to grow. But if this is the case we are not giving up. I would like the sports criterion to take precedence, but things don’t turn out as we want. The important thing is for the sports criterion to take precedence, but the other things are not worthy of being neglected either,” Stoican said.
Dinamo’s coach also commented the situation of FC Rapid, a club that did not obtain the license needed to play in League I: “It’s not easy for a team not to obtain the license, when the players are working every day and pinning great hope on the fact that they will do beautiful things. This license depends on the top dog within the club, and I’m not talking about players. It’s tough, but this is the situation.”
Viorel Duru, the director of the National Licensing System, stated on Monday at a press conference that he will propose the rescinding of Dinamo’s license for participation in the European Cups in case he receives the notification that the club has started the procedures needed in order to file for insolvency. “The club has to report to us the request made. If it reports that it has filed for insolvency, in line with Article 13 of the regulations, the issuer of the license can rescind the license of a club that no longer fulfills the licensing criteria. If Dinamo informs the issuer of the license that it has filed for insolvency, I will propose the rescinding of Dinamo’s license for European Cups and it will follow the procedure,” Duru stated.
FC Dinamo filed last Tuesday at the Bucharest Court the file through which it requests the start of the insolvency procedure. The file was registered under number 16020/3/2014 on behalf of FC Dinamo 1948 SA, the company that administers the football club within League I. The court will analyze FC Dinamo’s request on May 28 and if the request is accepted the court will appoint a judicial administrator. The latter will create the preliminary table of debts before a deadline set by the Bucharest Court.
FC Dinamo is the fifth League I club that has filed for insolvency in the last two years, after FC Rapid, Gloria Bistrita, Universitatea Cluj and Otelul Galati.
