EBRD, important contribution to economic development


President Traian Basescu has received the visit of the members of the board of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) at the Cotroceni Palace on Friday; within the context, he stated that the sectors in which Romanian needs the EBRD expertise most are attracting foreign investments, the foodstuffs industry, the infrastructure, the absorption of European funds and the energy sector, a Presidential Administration release informs. According to the document, the head of state thanked the members of the board for the important contribution of the EBRD to the economic development of Romania. Furthermore, President Traian Basescu mentioned the current situation of the Romanian economy, the importance of ensuring predictability and stability for the business environment, and the risks that might influence the evolution of the economy in the coming years.
As for the Minister of Public Finance Ioana Petrescu, she met the EBRD delegation with which she talked about the cooperation for the development and stability of the financial sector, the support of the development of infrastructure and providing a business environment good for investments, according to a release from the relevant ministry. The visit was organized in the context of the consulting process about the country strategy of EBRD for Romania, for 2015 to 2017 and is part of a series of talks allowing the board of the European institution to gain an overall view on the priorities of Romanian economy and maintain a close dialogue with the authorities, the private sector and the civil society in Romania.
