Two years from now all the schools in Romania will have an Internet connection, on Friday said the National Education Minister, Liviu Pop adding that this would increase the pupils’ safety if security cameras will also be inside the buildings and outside, in the school yards.
“It would be ideal to have security cameras at least within the school units’ perimeter, in the school yards and on the halls, but this needs a financial effort. There are local authorities who did this. In the strategy of combating violence in school, we have it foreseen this important chapter, alongside the National Education Ministry (MEN)’s project regarding the providing with Internet of all school units, since today we have only 66 pct of the school activity buildings connected to the Internet. I believe it will bring an additional safety, through the project we are working on today at the MEN, two years from now we’ll have it covered with Internet all the school units, and from this point of view the pupils’ safety will be higher if we make it to cover the video surveillance in the school units’ perimeter,” Liviu Pop told a news conference on Friday, at the PSD Hqs in Sibiu.
The minister admits that currently problems are with assuring the guard in several schools throughout the country since the local authorities have announced that they lack money to pay the keepers.
