- The best eleven players selected will get the chance to undergo a training stage at the National Football Center in Mogoșoaia and will travel to Spain and train with a FC Barcelona Escola coach
- Last season, more than 1.600 players participated at the trials organized by The RFF and Gillette
With FC Barcelona’s famous Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper as final destination, the second season of Performance Has A Future was announced on Wednesday at the Romanian Football Federation headquarters by RFF President Răzvan Burleanu and Radu Dobrescu, Procter&Gamble Brand Manager Shave Care, South-East Europe.
RFF scouts coordinated by football legends Ion Geolgău, Miodrag Belodedici and Jean Vlădoiu will travel to various regions of Romania and host trials for young footballers ages 10 to 14. For the second season of the project two more locations have been added, but the final destination remains the same. The best eleven players selected between August 2017 and April 2018 will get the chance to train at the National Football Center in Mogoșoaia and live the Barcelona experience in May 2018, including a training session with a FC Barcelona Escola coach and a live game in Europe’s biggest stadium, the Nou Camp.
The initiative announced today comes after a first season of Performance Has A Future that has attracted more than 1.600 young footballers to the trials hosted by the RFF scouts, eleven of which have been to Barcelona last May and trained at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
”We’re happy to announce today the extension of our partnership with Gillette, after a fantastic first season of Performance Has A Future. The reaction generated by this first season in the communities we have traveled to has encouraged us to add two more locations for this season, giving even more young talented footballers the chance to be evaluated by the RFF scouts. Equally important, we’re delighted to see that some of the eleven winners of last season are already in contact or monitored by several clubs and academies and junior National Team coaches”, stated Răzvan Burleanu, Romanian Football Federation President.
The caravan will have a first stop in Constanța, on August 20, and continue with trials in Râmnicu Sărat (Buzău County, September 17), Putna (Suceava County, October 1st), with three more locations to be reached in 2018 between March and April.
The best eleven players scouted in these locations will join the team and travel to Mogoșoaia and Barcelona in May 2018.
”The outstanding reaction generated by the first edition of Performance Has A Future has encouraged us to add a new chapter to our long and successful history with The Romanian Football Federation and to also extend the number of trials. We’re happy to bring together the Romanian Football Federation and FC Barcelona, a Gillette global partner, in order to offer young footballers in Romania the chance to make a step further towards sporting performance. Of course, all of this is possible thanks to Gillette customers all over Romania, to whom we offer performance in shaving everyday”, declared Radu Dobrescu, Procter&Gamble Brand Manager Shave Care, South-East Europe.
In order to be eligible for the trials, the young footballers need to be:
- 10 to 14 years old up to July 31, 2017.
- Be accompanied at the trials by the parent or legal tutor, the latter being the one who needs to give his approval for the registration.
Performance Has A Future is a scouting project developed under RFF’s Together We Are Football initiative and will be held between August 2017 and May 2018.
In its first season, the project held trials in Moldova Nouă (Caraș-Severin County), Bascov (Argeș County), Jucu (Cluj County) and Pădureni (Vaslui County).
“For more than a century, Gillette is keeping its promise to offer performance every day with its razors, used by more than 800 million men all over the world. In partnership with The Romanian Football Federation, Gillette continues to support talented children all over Romania through Performance Has A Future,” a press release of the campaign informs.
