Emmanuelle Bercot, in premiere in Romania: The French actress and director attends the official opening of “Les Films de Cannes a Bucarest”

French actress and director Emmanuelle Bercot will visit Romania for the first time, to attend the opening of “Les Films de Cannes a Bucharest”, an event due to take place during October 23 – 29. She will introduce to Bucharest viewers the film “Standing Tall” (“La tete haute”, the same film that opened the festival on the French Riviera.)
Emmanuelle Bercot is the first female director in history to open the Cannes Film Festival, after Diane Kurys and “A Man în Love”, in 1987. Having films introduced in the official selections of Cannes, Venice and Berlin, and enthusiastic reviews for her roles, Bercot is one of the most influential voices of the moment in French cinema.

At the gala event of October 23, the star will meet the audience and will answer questions at the end of the screening. The viewers will watch in premiere in festival “Mon Roi” as well, the drama that brought Bercot the award for best female performance at Cannes, ex aequo with Rooney Mara.

This year, the film written and directed by her, “Standing Tall”, the fourth long film in her career, was selected to open the Cannes Film Festival, with a gala ceremony attended by hundreds of high-level guests. Starring Catherine Deneuve and Benoit Magimel, “Standing Tall presents the fate of the character Malony, from the age of six to eighteen. Throughout this time, a children’s judge and an educator tirelessly attempt saving him.

“Les Films de Cannes a Bucarest” will take place during October 23 – 29, at the cinema theatres Studio, Elvire Popesco and CinemaPro.
The sixth edition of “Les Films de Cannes a Bucarest” is organized by the Cinemascop Association and Voodoo Films. The festival is produced in partnership with the Embassy of France and the French Institute of Bucharest.
