EUR 5 M compensations for the Montenegro accident


The demands made by the beneficiaries of the RCA Omniasig VIG insurance policy for the coach involved in the Montenegro accident in June 2013 exceed the maximum reserve of EUR 5 M set by the law and allocated by the insurer following this event, the insurance company announced yesterday, adding that it is making “all approaches” to solve the demands.
“Omniasig Vienna Insurance Group took act of the completion of the investigation conducted by the prosecutor’s office of the High Court of Cassation and Justice in the tragic accident that occurred on 23 June 2013 in Montenegro. The coach involved in the accident was insured by Omniasig, through a mandatory civil liability policy (RCA) and a facultative insurance policy Casco (…) As the claims made so far by the beneficiaries of the RCA policy or by their representatives exceed the limit set by the law, Omniasig makes all approaches to rapidly settle the claims,” the insurer informs.
Following the accident, Omniasig received 40 claims under the RCA policy, relative to the passengers of the coach and a Montenegrin citizen, for risks of personal injury and death, a claim for the damages caused to the street accessories of Montenegro and 38 claims under the Casco policies, for the risks of persons’ accidents and damages to the luggage. The coach was operated by Gregory Tour. The accident claimed the lives of 18 people, including the driver, while 29 others were injured.
