The fame of the resorts on the Prahova Valley, assaulted by Romanian and foreign tourists during vacation and leave makes the owners of the accommodation units to increase the prices especially on holidays, as is the case of the ones at the end of the year. This is confirmed by the offers for the Christmas 2017 and New Year’s Eve, which have really extravagant rates! Those who chose to spend Christmas or New Year’s Eve on the Valea Prahovei – Sinaia, Busteni, Azuga – at the end of this year, can say that they have to pay prices as high as the mountain area where they want to travel, since hoteliers seem to compete in high offers for these two feasts.

Specifically, tourists have been offered a traditional festive dinner and an artistic program for Christmas at a four-star hotel in Sinaia, starting from the special rate of RON 825/person. The offer includes four nights of accommodation including buffet breakfast, a special show on the occasion of Santa Claus’s arrival on December 24, a festive dinner on December 25, buffet dinner and artistic program on December 26, plus free parking and SPA. In Busteni, at a three-star unit, rates are RON 630 for a single person for three nights of accommodation; for four nights of accommodation the price is RON 730/person; in both cases, the offers include Swedish buffet breakfast, pork feast and dinner on Christmas Eve, festive dinner on Christmas.

In Azuga, the rate is RON 880/seat in a double room, for four nights. In this case, the offer also includes, besides the traditional Christmas dinner, a number of facilities such as 20% discount for the Azuga Gondola, 10% discount at bowling pool and table tennis.

As for the New Year’s Eve, rates are also high. For instance, Casino Sinaia is preparing a 5-star New Year’s Eve and a 5-star menu! “Spend the night between years in the most beautiful location on the Prahova Valley: Casino Sinaia! Choose the fanciest outfit and welcome 2018 like a Hollywood star! We’re waiting you at Revelion Extravaganza with music, dance, open bar and free buffet!” is the offer of the Casino, where the price only for the night between years is RON 449 for an adult and RON 200 for a child. As for the five-star menu, the offer includes chicken breasts in pankocu crust with tartar sauce, spring packs with sweet chilli sauce, quiche with mushrooms and leeks, duck breast and teriyaki sauce, karaage chicken legs with spicy mayonnaise, foie gras parfait and apple jelly on muffin, shrimp skewer with zucchini and hollandaise sauce, salmon skewer with sesame and lime, cheese cake with passion fruit, fresh pineapple with brown sugar and mint.

The New Year’s Eve party which will be organized in the Italian style at the Cantacuzino Castle in Busteni will be also extravagant. “Cocktails, fireworks, live music performed by one of the most fashionable cover bands: Special Guest Orchestra, all these complemented by a refined and savory menu inspired both by the Italian and French cuisine” is the offer of the New Year’s Eve party called “La vita e bella”, launched several months ago by the organizers. Besides, considering the style of the party, the menu will also be inspired by the Italian cuisine. Thus, the dishes served in the night between years at the Cantacuzino Castle will be: red tuna carpaccio, salad mix, avocado and pomegranate; ravioli with ricotta and truffles with parmesan sauce; halibut with red shrimp, green asparagus, artichoke and Mediterranean sauce; sorbeto with fresh fruit ragu; sirloin and lamb crown in greens crust; duccese potatoes in casks of zucchini in mixed mushrooms sauce; tiramisu Castello and macaronis. In this case, the price of a package is RON 960 per person; those who made reservation until November 15, 2017 benefited from a 10% discount. The price also includes other facilities, especially for the families who chose not to let their children home, regardless of their age, and to bring them spend the night between years, at a famous castle, too. Specifically, although it’s hard to suppose that a baby’s menu could include one of the abovementioned dishes, babies less than one year old will benefit from free access, while children from one to six years old will benefit from a 50% discount. Not at last, an unprecedented offer in terms of presentation can be found in Azuga, at a four-star guesthouse.

Specifically, for the period between December 29, 2017 and January 2, 2018, two persons will pay EUR 500 for a double room, while the price for a four-person apartment is EUR 800. The package includes: 4 nights of accommodation, Austrian breakfast and boiled wine; access to sauna, Jacuzzi, table tennis, wireless internet, party games. The New Year’s Eve festive dinner hasn’t been included in the offer, since it is… optional; it will be paid separately when the booking is paid, and the price, in this case, is EUR 100/adult, EUR 40/one child over 10 years old; babies and children under 10 years old have free access.

Most likely, tourists who chose to spend Christmas or New Year’s Eve at the mountain resorts in the Prahova County paid extra money also to enjoy the snow, including on the ski slopes.

The skiing areas on the Prahova Valley totalize almost 30 km, at the end of the last week, for instance, skiing was possible in Azuga, on the Cazacu Slope for beginners, as well as in Sinaia at Cota 2000 m (Valea Dorului 1 and 2 and Valea Dorului Variants 1 and 2, Valea Soarelui 1 and 2, and Laptici 1 and 2). Besides, Sinaia hosts the largest altitude skiing area in Romania, with more than 20 km of slope.
