Finance Ministry borrowed RON 45 M from commercial banks on Tuesday

The Public Finance Ministry (MFP) borrowed 45 million lei from local banks on Tuesday, this being an additional amount related to the bonds auction held on Monday, when the Treasury drew 300 million lei, at a 4.14 percent yield.

Three banks submitted bids worth 45 million lei in the non-competitive bidding session on Tuesday.

MFP borrowed 300 million lei off local banks on Monday, through a 10-year bond issue, with a residual maturity date of seven years.

The average yield of the bonds is 4.14 percent, slightly higher than the previous auction that took place one month ago, when MFP loaned through a 7-year bond issue with an average yield of 3.88 percent per year. Bank bids in Monday’s session totalled 807.5 million lei.

According to the revised program, the Finance Ministry has planned loans from banks totalling 2 billion lei in August, to which 210 million lei may be added through additional sessions of non-competitive bids, organized exclusively for benchmark bonds.
