In December, the Johann Strauss Ensemble Orchestra and the master conductor Russel McGregor will return in Romania with a vibrant, lively musical program, within a new national tour called “BEST OF VIENNA”, which will include 7 cities.
Starting from December 12, the virtuoso interpretation of the Johann Strauss Ensemble Orchestra will bring the magic of the Viennese Christmas closer to the Romanian people o the stages of the spectacle halls in Bucharest, Sibiu, Cluj-Napoca, Arad, Targu-Mures, Bistrita and Brasov.
Classical music lovers will stay for two hours in the brilliant ambiance of the Viennese Ball that is specific to the end of the year, on the rhythm of the finest musical compositions, starting from waltzes or marches and reaching to polkas written by the composers of the Strauss Dynasty and its contemporaries.
The reference symbol of the Viennese Ball, the famous waltz “The Blue Danube”, is celebrating 150 years. In this historical context, the most popular musical composition of the world will also be alive in the “Best of Vienna” concerts of this year. As we got used to, the accuracy of the interpretation, the fine and pure sounds, the jovial spirit of the Johann Strauss Ensemble musicians, touch the soul and light up the desire of the audience to stand up and dance in waltz steps.
Respecting the tradition of Strauss’ 19th Century concerts, Master Russell McGregor conducts in the Stehgeiger’s style, that is, from the position of a soloist. McGregor was born in Oxford but grew up in Melbourne, Australia, where at the age of 7 he began to study the violin. Since 1992, Russell McGregor lives in Vienna, and for almost 20 years he is the concertmaster and conductor of the Schöbrunn Palace Orchestra.
His violin was made 320 years ago (in 1697) by Carlo Giuseppe Testore, being “the younger sister” of the famous viola that belonged to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The history of the Johann Strauss Ensemble Orchestra begins in 1985, when it was founded by members of the Bruckner Orchestra from Linz. Since then, the group has been continuously working on improving sound and style, adding new and innovative songs to the standard repertoire. The orchestra owes much of the professional evolution to violinist and conductor Russell McGregor, who joined the ensemble in 2004.
The orchestra fascinates audiences around the world with high-performance shows, thus preserving its supremacy among the great Viennese ensembles. By the charm and joy of making music at the highest artistic level, Johann Strauss Ensemble also won the admiration of the Romanians. Christmas concerts held on the territory of Romania are always sold out. Johann Strauss Ensemble members return to our country for the 13th year; they are eager to come back and live another chapter of their lives together with the wonderful Romanian audience.
