ForMin Corlatean and JusMin Cazanciuc met with the Minister of Justice of Spain


Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean  met, on Wednesday, with the Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Spain, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón, MAE reports in a press release. The meeting took place during the Spanish official’s visit to Romania on 13-14 May 2014. On this occasion, the two officials discussed the progress of bilateral relations between Romania and Spain, along with topics of the European agenda, the situation in Ukraine included. According to MAE release, they emphasized the excellent bilateral cooperation between the two countries, which have had a Strategic Partnership since 2013, a relationship materialized in the political dialogue, and in economic and sectorial cooperation. The two ministers brought up the role the Romanian community in Spain plays in the bilateral relationship, making a major contribution to the Spanish economy and constituting an important binder between the two countries. The two officials underscored the importance of the economic dimension of the bilateral relationship, mentioning the mutual interest in deepening the cooperation in this field, on the background of the upturn in Spain and of the economic growth posted by Romania in this period. In connection with the situation in Ukraine, Minister Titus Corl??ean reiterated the support for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Concurrently,  he mentioned the need for a coordinated European and Euro-Atlantic approach in condemning the Russian Federation’s actions that run counter to international law and in adopting and implementing firm and efficient response measures aimed at defusing the current tension. Also on Wednesday, Alberto Ruiz Gallardo met with his Romanian counterpart, minister Robert Cazanciuc. Discussed at the meeting were the latest developments in the judiciary in the context generated by the coming into force of Romania’s fundamental law codes and their implementation. The meeting was also an occasion to reaffirm opinions of cooperation among the European Union justice ministers in a network where common dialogue should be developed on themes of major interest and also support for joint development projects for the judiciaries of the member states and identification of practical solutions for European funding and their implementation.
