ForMin Corlatean starts visit to Italy


Titus Corlatean started a visit to the Italian Republic, the Holy See and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. According to a Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) release quoted by Agerpres, the visit to Italy has as main objective the continuation of the thorough dialogue based on the Consolidated Strategic Partnership between the two states. ‘The main topics to be approached will aim at the bilateral relations and the sectoral cooperation, the economic cooperation included, the European agenda, mainly in the context of Italy’s taking over the EU Council Presidency in the second semester of this year, the EU expansion policy, the Eastern Neighbourhood and the Republic of Moldova, as well as topical issues of the international agenda,’ MAE informs. The Romanian chief diplomat will be received by Italian Premier Enrico Letta and will have bilateral consultations with his counterpart Emma Bonino. During the visit to Rome, Corlatean will also meet the Romanian scholars at the Romanian Academy of Rome.About the visit to the Holy See, MAE announces that there will be talks with the Secretary for the Relations with the States Monseigneur Dominique Mamberti. The visit will include the participation in the general audience of Pope Francis. Moreover, in the context of the visit to the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, the Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister will have consultations with the Order’s Great Chancellor, Jean-Pierre Mazery.
