Friendlies: Romania beats Australia 3-2
Romania restored the bad image after the 1-4 loss against Poland last week, by beating Australia 3-2 in a friendly game in Malaga, Spain on Wednesday night. Cristian Tanase opened the score in the 35th minute. Austraila equalised in 45th minute (Luke Wilkshire – penalty) and then took the lead in 54th minute (Robert Cornthwaite). But strikes to Bogdan Stancu and Gabriel Torje inside the last 10 minutes ensured the higher-ranked side triumphed in Malaga.
Romania coach Victor Piturca restored most of his key players after they were rested in Saturday’s 4-1 friendly loss to Poland. “It was a good training session, we could score more within the first 40 minutes but we missed a lot of opportunities. Moreover we committed a series of mistakes and we were punished for them. We must fix a lot of things in the defense”, Romania’s coach Victor Piturca said after the game. He underlined the good evolution of Gabriel Torje and Gabi Tamas
