Friendly game: Steaua 1 – Celtic 2
Steaua’s first friendly this year, and its first game in the training stage in Marbella, resulted in its first defeat. The team played poorly in the second half. Reghecampf was forced to change his game plan early on, having to send in Stanca after goalkeeper Tatarusanu suffered an injury during the warm-up. Reghecampf made three substitutions at half time, replacing Chipciu, Szukala and Nikolic with Tanase, Gardos and Adi Rocha. Nevertheless, Steaua remained dangerous. League I top goal scorer Rusescu wasted two opportunities to hike Steaua’s lead. Led by former CFR Cluj coach Paulo Sergio, Celtic managed to equalize thanks to Samaras. The Scottish team took advantage of Steaua’s slump and of its weaker right flank and rapidly took the lead with a goal scored by Bangura.
