The first concert of Garbage in Romania, Friday evening, at B’estfest, was a real treat from beginning to end, the songs sounded better than ever and vocalist Shirley Manson – an incredible presence on stage – was as overwhelmed as the fans that came to see her. Very well organised, same as last year, when the first edition of B’estfest took place in Tunari, in a camp that featured camping, open-air restaurants, sporting areas, other recreational activities and resting places – the festival debuted with several remarkable artists in a reeling evening. In a premiere also for them, as they admitted, Parazitii had an outstanding concert on one of the three big stages of the festival. After a break, hip-hop fans crowded in front of the stage where BUG Mafia was performing.Later, on the rock stage appeared Negura Bunget, with their new singer Stefan Zaharescu, cheered – as always – by their fans, which celebrated, starting last year, 15 years of existence, also through a north-American tour that represented a premiere for the band and ended in May this year. Next came the Portuguese band Moonspell, under a reddish moon very similar to their clips.Midnight had already come when the rockers of Garbage went on stage – the gorgeous Shirley Manson, dressed in red and black – a mesmerising presence that caught everybody’s eyes – accompanied by Steve Marker, Duke Erikson and Butch Vig – along with bassist Eric Avery, a longtime collaborator that performs with the band, during the ongoing promotion tour of the ‘Not Your Kind of People’ album. They delighted their fans with many hits, from ‘Stupid Girl’ – one of their first hits – to the first single of this year’s album, ‘Blood For Poppies,’ was well as other songs of this album – ‘Paranoid,’ ‘Special,’ ‘Cheery Lips,’ ‘Queer,’ ‘Why Do You Love Me?,’ ‘Control,’ during a wonderful live performance.
