President Klaus Iohannis signed on Wednesday the decrees awarding gymnasts Catalina Ponor, Larisa Iordache and Marian Dragulescu for their outstanding performance at the freshly concluded European Championships hosted by Romania.
According to a release of the Presidential Administration, Catalina Ponor and Marian Dragulescu were awarded the “Faithful Service” National Order in the rank of Officer, and Larisa Iordache – the “Sports Merit”, 3rd class with ribbon, in sign of “high appreciation for the remarkable results obtained at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Cluj-Napoca (April 19 – 23), for the talent, passion, dedication and professionalism they set in the service of the international affirmation of Romanian sport.”
Klaus Iohannis congratulates the athletes for their outstanding achievements at the European competition and expresses appreciation for their exceptional lifelong performance as well as for their honorably representing Romania.
“Through their hard work, determination and perseverance, the three athletes have once again brought international recognition to Romanian gymnastics,” reads the Presidential Administration release.
Team Romania’s medal count at the European Gymnastics Champions in Cluj-Napoca was as follows: gold – Marian Dragulescu (men’s floor) and Catalina Ponor (balance beam); one silver medal – Marian Dragulescu (men’s vault); and a bronze medal – Larisa Iordache (balance beam).
