Romania’s women national team under 18 has won on Sunday the World Title as it defeated Germany 32-21 (15-7) in the final disputed in Ohrid, Macedonia.
Scorers: Bianca Maria Bazaliu – 10, Lorena Ostase – 5, Cristina Laslo – 5, Daniela Corban – 3, Alexandra Carasol – 2, Alina Ilie – 2, Iulia Maria Andrei – 2, Dana Abed-Kader – 2 and Sonia Vasiliu – 1.
After claiming victory on Sunday in the final of the Women’s Youth (U18) World Handball Championship in Macedonia, Romania’s team came to have three representatives in the All Star Team of the 2014 Women’s Junior World Championship.
Thus, pivot Lorna Ostase, centre back Cristina Laslo and left back Bianca Maria Bazaliu were the three Romanian players who were chosen by an expert jury of the International Handball Federation (IHF) to become part of the team.
Bazaliu ranked 3rd in the final ranking of the top scorers at the World Championship, with 76 points, after Sojeong Yu (South Korea), 81 goals scored, and Ida Marie Hernes (Norway), 76 goals scored.
Emily Bolk (Germany) became the best player of this year’s edition of the World Championship.
