Actor Horatiu Malaele will be distinguished with the excellence award of the International Film Festival ‘Comedy Cluj,’ which will take place on October 12-21 at Cluj-Napoca, will feature over 130 films from 35 countries, with more than 100 guests belonging to the film industry of Romania and abroad, and will include dozens of side-events (workshops, exhibitions, theatrical plays, street shows), Mediafax reports. According to the source, the awarding ceremony will be organised on October 17 at Cinema Victoria in Cluj-Napoca. The event will be preceded by the projection of the film ‘Divorce out of Love,’ directed by Andrei Blaier, which tells a story that remains actual even now, more than 11 years after it was launched in cinemas, and will be followed by an informal dialogue of Horatiu Malaele with the public. In the previous editions of the International Film Festival ‘Comedy Cluj,’ excellence awards – for contributions to the development of Romanian film – were granted to actor Marin Moraru, actress Tora Vasilescu (2009), director Geo Saizescu and actor Sebastian Papaiani (2010) and actress Draga Olteanu Matei (2011). An actor, director, cartoonist and writer, Horatiu Malaele played memorable roles in films like ‘The Secret of Bacchus’ (1974, director Geo Saizescu), ‘Divorce out of Love’ (1991, director Andrei Blaier), ‘Sick and Tired’ (1994, director Mircea Daneliuc), ‘Amen’ (2001, director Costa Gavras) or ‘Poker’ (2010, director Sergiu Nicolaescu). As film director, he received many prizes at home and abroad for his ‘Mute Wedding’ (2008).
