Horse-carriage and antique car parade at Opera House Promenade on Saturday


A horse-carriage and antique car parade will be organised at the Opera House Promenade on Saturday at 8.30 p.m. The event will be a preview of the coming season of ONB (National Opera House of Bucharest) and will present the major future opera titles and related cultural activities.
According to a press release issued by Mediafax, approximately 200 artists will take part in the Opera House Promenade event that is now at its 7th edition. It is part of a series of events designed to offer citizens of Bucharest both a way to spend their free time and the opportunity to listen to sophisticated music in a familiar setting. The audience will be able to enjoy well-known fragments from “The Queen of Spades” and “Swan Lake” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, “Aida” and “La traviata” by Giuseppe Verdi, “Faust” by Charles Gounod, “Tosca” by Giacomo Puccini and many others.
Among the operas to premiere in the 2013-2014 season, fragments of which were included in this programme, are Verdi’s “Othello”, which will be performed in a new interpretation directed by Bulgarian artist Vera Nemirova on 6 and 9 September at the “George Enescu” International Festival and “Rigoletto”, which will also be performed in a new interpretation of the renowned Australian director Stephen Barlow, as of spring 2014.
The Opera House Promenade, an outdoors concert that attracts thousands of people every year, will be held Saturday at 8.30 p.m. at the ONB esplanade; access is free of charge.
