Toader on candidates for DNA Chief Prosecutor’s office: They should draft a managerial plan that would show the current state of the DNA, the measures meant to improve its activity and a timetable for the fulfilment of those measures

Justice Minister Tudorel Toader stated on Monday that he expects from the candidates for the DNA Chief Prosecutor’s office a managerial plan that would show the current state of the DNA, the measures meant to improve its activity, and a timetable for the fulfilment of the said measures. “You can’t do a descriptive thing – what the DNA is and how well it has functioned,” Toader said.

Justice Minister Tudorel Toader pointed out on Monday that he expects as many candidates as possible to file their bids for the DNA Chief Prosecutor’s office and for them to have managerial plans “that would show the current state of the DNA, the measures meant to improve its activity, and a timetable for the fulfilment of the said measures.”

“A managerial plan must mandatorily include an x-ray of the DNA’s authority, it must mandatorily include the measures, and the timetable for the achievement of the said measures. You can’t do a descriptive thing – what the DNA is and how well it has functioned,” Toader said.

He pointed out that this is exactly what was missing from the bids of the four candidates that have so far went through the interview for this office.

The selection procedure for the office of DNA Chief Prosecutor will resume, Justice Minister Tudorel Toader not nominating any of the four candidates who filed bids for the leadership of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA).

“Following the selection procedure, we hereby inform you that no nomination for the office of Chief Prosecutor of the National Anticorruption Directorate will be made from among the participating candidates, the procedure being set to resume,” the Justice Minister announced on Friday.

The selection for the office of Chief Prosecutor of the DNA started on July 9, immediately after President Klaus Iohannis signed the decree dismissing from office Laura Codruta Kovesi.
