Tariceanu: ALDE-PSD coalition is solid: Fake news that circulates intensely alleges that I’ve negotiated with Vasile Blaga and Victor Ponta and the dissolution of the ruling coalition is up next* Such negotiations couldn’t have taken place and won’t take place

The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE) Chairman and Senate Speaker  Calin Popescu Tariceanu states that “fake news” according to which he had political negotiations with former National Liberal Party (PNL) Co-President Vasile Blaga and Pro Romania President Victor Ponta has been circulating in recent weeks. Tariceanu says that such negotiations did not take place and will not take place because the PSD-ALDE alliance is “solid,” and he tells those who want to see the fight against the deep state stopped that “the fake news tactic will not work.”

“A piece of fake news has been circulating for the past few weeks, being picked up periodically even though there is no argument to give credence to it. Unnamed sources are invoked, inside information, secret meetings are mentioned. The sources do not exist, the information is false, and the meetings are not taking place, but this does not hinder those spreading it. The latest rumour is that I have allegedly negotiated with Vasile Blaga and Victor Ponta and the dissolution of the ruling coalition and the forming of a new majority is up next. Nothing can be falser, and I want to put an end to this fake news campaign,” Calin Popescu Tariceanu wrote on his Facebook account.

He claims he was away on vacation and such negotiations did not take place and will not take place because the PSD-ALDE alliance is “solid.” Tariceanu admits that there are differences over tactics but from the standpoint of the strategic objectives “there is strong agreement between ALDE and PSD.”

“I leave aside the fact that I have been on vacation with my family in recent days. Such negotiations could not have taken place and will not take place for a very simple reason. The coalition between ALDE and PSD is solid and based on several principles that also ensure massive popular support for us, as shown by the latest polls too. Firstly, we are talking about defending the rights and freedoms of citizens and the fight against the abuses committed by the deep state. Secondly, the consolidation of economic growth, so that it would make itself felt in the pockets of Romanians. It is true that, just like any coalition, there are differences over the tactical steps to take, in various situations; but from the standpoint of the strategic objectives there is strong agreement between ALDE and PSD,” he added.

The ALDE leader tells those who want to see the fight against the deep state stopped that “the fake news tactic will not work.”
