Razvan Lucescu, the head coach of the Romanian national football team, expects two difficult games against France in Group D of the Euro 2012 Qualifiers but opines that France remains the favourite, Agerpres reports.
‘There will be two battles but France is the favorite. It is difficult to talk only several months after our most recent games against them but France’s players play for FC Barcelona, Manchester United and Real Madrid. Still, we are confident following our latest results against France,’ Razvan Lucescu stated.
The last 3 games that the two teams played ended with three draws: 0-0 during Euro 2008, 1-1 in Paris and 2-2 in Constanta during the World Cup 2010 Qualifiers.
Following Sunday’s draws Romania has been assigned to Group D of the Euro 2012 Qualifiers, a group that also consists of France, Bosnia, Belarus, Albania and Luxembourg.
In his turn, Gerard Houllier, the head coach of the French national football team, considers that the draws have assigned France to a balanced group. ‘Romania is always a tenacious opponent that we were unable to defeat in the World Cup 2010 Qualifiers. I am glad to meet Safet Susic again, the head coach of Bosnia and a former PSG player whom I coached. The other teams know France well, maybe with the exception of Belarus, a team that I never competed against,’ Houllier stated. Bernd Stange, the German head coach of Belarus, has stated that his team plans to finish on one of the top two places in the group. ‘We are lucky we didn’t end up in the same group with Spain, Italy or England. Bosnia has several players that play for important clubs. Edin Dzeko and Zvjezdan Misimovic are stars that any European club would like to have. Our goal is to finish on one of the top two places,’ Stange stated. In his turn, Josip Kuze, Albania’s head coach, believes that France and Romania are the group’s favorites. ‘It is a tough group. We didn’t want to face Croatia, however I now realize that each game will be tough. We have to be very cautious with Belarus and Bosnia, while France and Romania are the favorites. We will be prepared for this challenge,’ Kuze stated.
Guy Hellers, the head coach of Luxembourg, hopes that his players will be able to deliver some surprises. ‘We are always outsiders. For us, for all of our amateur players, France is a top level team and playing against it will be an unforgettable experience. We have nothing to lose. We will give our best in each game like we have been doing for years. We won’t play with fear, we’ll play with respect. Maybe our opponents won’t be so motivated when playing against Luxembourg and anything could happen,’ Hellers stated.
