INS: Arrivals in tourist units go up 3.7 per cent in July


Arrivals and overnights in tourist units in Romania went up 3.7 per cent and 4.1 per cent, respectively, in July 2014, compared with July 2013, shows data released on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

 

Thus, the arrivals registered in the accommodation units in July 2014 totalled 1,026,600, increasing 3.7 per cent from those of July 2013. Of the total number of arrivals, the Romanian tourists’ arrivals in establishments of tourists’ reception with functions of tourists’ accommodation represented, in July 2014, 79.7 per cent, while those of foreign tourists represented 20.3 per cent, shares close to those registered in July 2013.

 

Concerning the arrivals of foreign tourists in the tourist reception structures, the highest share was registered by European tourists (78.0 per cent of the total number of foreign tourists) and 85.5 per cent of them came from European Union member states.

Hotel arrivals in July 2014 hold a 73.7 share of the total number of arrivals in the establishments of tourists’ reception with functions of tourists’ accommodation. Compared with July 2013, the arrivals in hotels in July 2014 increased 4 per cent.

The overnight stays registered in the tourist reception structures in July 2014 amounted to 2,985,200, increasing 4.1 per cent from those of July 2013. Of the total number of overnight stays, the Romanian tourists’ overnight stays in the establishments of tourists’ reception with functions of tourists’ accommodation represented 85.5 per cent in 2014, while those of foreign tourists represented 14.2 per cent. Concerning the overnight stays of foreign tourists in the accommodation structures, the highest share was registered by tourists coming from Europe (76.4 per cent of the total number of foreign tourist), and out of these 82.2 per cent were from the European Union member countries.

The arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania registered at the border points in July 2014 stood at 1,008,700, declining 1.9 per cent from July 2013. Most foreign visitors come from European countries (92.5 per cent). Of the total number of foreign visitors’ arrivals to Romania, 52.8 per cent come from European Union member states. Of the EU states, most arrivals were registered from Hungary (27.4 per cent), Bulgaria (21.0 per cent), Poland (10.4 per cent), Germany (9.4 per cent), Italy (6.1 per cent) and Austria (4.0 per cent).

The departures of Romanian visitors abroad registered at the border points in July 2014 stood at 1,187,200, increasing 1.6 per cent compared with July 2013. The road transportation means were the most used by the Romanian tourists to go abroad, representing 76.3 per cent of the total number of departures.
