INS: Unemployment rate, down to 6.6 pc in January 2013
The unemployment rate in seasonally adjusted form dropped by 0.1 pc in January against the previous month, to 6.6 pc, the National Statistics Institute (INS) informs. In January 2013, the unemployment rate diminished by 0.8 percent points compared to the level registered in January 2012. The number of jobless (in the age interval 15-74) estimated for January this year is 660,000, down from the previous month (671,000) and the same month of the previous year (729,000). On the other hand, the unemployment rate of men exceeds that of women by 0.7 percent points, the respective values being 6.9 pc in the case of men and 6.2 pc for women. In the adult age category (25-74), the unemployment rate was estimated at 5.2 pc for January 2013, of which 5.6 pc in the case of men and 4.7 pc of women. The number of jobless in the age category 25-74 represents 72.3 pc of the total number of jobless estimated for January 2013.
