INSCOP survey: Isarescu and Johannis most trusted by Romanians


Mugur Isarescu, Klaus Johannis, Victor Ponta, Sorin Oprescu and Calin Popescu-Tariceanu are the top five personalities Romanians trust most, according to an INSCOP survey quoted by Agerpres.
Mugur Isarescu has 42.9 percent (much and very much trust) compared to 44.9 percent as he had in January, followed by Klaus Johannis, 37.1 percent (much and very much trust) from 33.9 percent in January, and Victor Ponta has 36.4 percent, compared to 37.4 percent in January.
Fourth comes Sorin Oprescu with 32.3 percent (34.6 percent in January) followed by Calin Popescu-Tariceanu with 30.9 from 27.9 percent in January. PNL chairman Crin Antonescu ranks sixth in the trust list with 26 percent much and very much trust (compared to 29.7 percent in January) and is followed by Mircea Geoana and Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu, both quoted in March with 24.8 percent, much and very much trust. In January, Mircea Geoana used to have 24.1 percent whereas Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu had 23.7 percent trust. Then follows Traian Basescu with 22.3 percent (22.1 percent in January), George Maior with 22.1 percent (21.5 percent), Teodor Melescanu with 21.2 percent (20.2 percent in January), Ion Iliescu with 17.4 percent (18.4 percent in January) etc.
USL breakup affected the trust in the political class as a whole. Thus, with very few exceptions, most political figures measures by INSCOP – Truth about Romania barometer,” no matter whether they had anything to do with USL, suffer from credibility losses. The explanation comes from the general state of instability and tension which sent concern to the population, and a strong feeling of dissatisfaction towards the public-political milieu. The phenomenon is confirmed by the lower trust in most public institutions measures during this period,” says Remus Stefureac, INSCOP director.
The survey was conducted by INSCOP Research at the command of Adevarul newspaper between February 17 and March 4. The sample included 1,055 people and is representative for Romania’s population of and over 18 years old.
