Ioan Enciu asks EC to sanction Great Britain for discrimination against Romanians

MEP Ion Enciu, member of the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice, and Home Affairs (LIBE), has requested the European Commission to sanction Great Britain for European legislation infringement through discrimination against Romanians and Bulgarians, and failure to comply with EU norms on free movement and right to work, according to a press release cited by Agerpres. “The populist xenophobic campaign initiated in Great Britain stigmatizes a community of European citizens who are exercising their fundamental rights to free movement and work in the European Union. The Romanians and Bulgarians who work in Great Britain are not immigrants, but European citizens whose rights must be defended by the European Commission, in accordance with the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU,” the Romanian MEP said, quoted by Agerpres.
