Romania’s and Bulgaria’s Schengen accession is not on the agenda of the Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) meeting that started yesterday in Dublin, as the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU had announced in December.“The issue is not on the agenda of this week’s informal Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) meeting. The Irish Presidency plans to make progress in Romania’s and Bulgaria’s accession. We are aware of the member states’ significant and lengthy preoccupations that will have to be addressed,” a spokesperson of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU stated, ‘Cronica Romana’ informs. “The issue is on the agenda of the JHA Council in March, in line with the European Council’s conclusions,” the aforementioned source added. An addendum to the conclusions of the European Council meeting last December points out that Romania and Bulgaria have fulfilled their obligations in implementing the Schengen acquis, inviting the JHA Council to reanalyze the issue in March 2013.
