Land Law amended

The Ministry of Agriculture will promote in Parliament a series of modifications to the draft law on the sale of farmland, such as the possibility to cancel the sale of a land if the price is smaller than in the sale offer, preserving the State Domains Agency ADS and creating a department for the trading of lands larger than 30 hectares, Mediafax informs. The measures are listed in a note presented Wednesday to the government by Agriculture minister Daniel Constantin, regarding the changes which the ministry will propose first to the parliamentary committee for agriculture of the Senate and, later, to the Chamber of Deputies, about the acting draft law on the sales of farmland to natural persons, following a reexamination demand made by President Traian Basescu. The Ministry of Agriculture will set up a special department for the regulation of the land market, which will be in charge only with the relation with the mayor’s office, not the seller, in view of curbing bureaucracy, and will approve the sales of land plots which exceed 30 ha. The sale of plots up to 30 ha will be approved by the territorial structures of the ministry. Tuesday, President Traian Basescu sent to the Parliament a completion to the re-examination request of the land law, mentioning that the citizens and legal persons of the EU should be allowed to buy farmland in the same conditions under which Romanians may purchase land in the states of the EU.
