MAE’s Podgorean welcomes South Korea’s ambassador


State Secretary for Political Analysis and Parliament with Romania’s Foreign Ministry (MAE) Radu Podgorean on Tuesday welcomed South Korea’s ambassador to Romania Park Hyo-Sung to receive the ambassador’s letters of credence as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary. In a press release, MAE reports, quoted by Agerpres, that Podgorean extended condolences and full compassion to the families of the tragic ferryboat accident in South Korea, as well as solidarity with the entire South-Korean people. He also wished the ambassador good luck with his mission in Romania, assuring him of the full support of Romania’s Foreign Ministry for his mission in Romania. In his turn, ambassador Park Hyo-Sung extended heart-felt thanks for the condolences and the compassion extended by Romania’s president, prime minister and foreign minister to the South-Korean authorities over the tragic accident that involved the Sewol ferryboat .
‘The latest developments in and the future prospects for the bilateral relations between Korea and Romania were reviewed, with emphasis on the importance to consolidate political dialogue and economic cooperation in the light of the strategic partnership between South Korea and Romania. State Secretary Podgorean voiced encouragement for the presence of increasingly more South-Korean companies in Romania’s economy and the implementation of projects unveiled at a meeting of a joint industrial cooperation committee between the two counties held this year in Bucharest,’ MAE reports.
At the meeting, excellent cooperation between Romania and South Korea inside international organisations was highlighted. The importance attached by the world community, particularly the European Union, to peace and security in the Korean Peninsula was reaffirmed.
