MAE rejects NGOs claims demanding the resignation of envoy Lazurca

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) yesterday rejected the accusations made by several NGOs that demanded the resignation of the Romanian ambassador in Chisinau, Marius Lazurca, informing Mediafax that the Romanian embassy to the Republic of Moldova operates under the mandate it was entrusted with, by observing the diplomatic rules. According to MAE, “the consular section of Chisinau is among the best performing in the entire consular system of Romania, both in terms of the volume of services and in relation to the capacity of creatively and receptively meeting the expectations of solicitors.” As for the accusation that seven Moldovan citizens did not receive visas to enter Romania, MAE informs that “the consular section strictly enforced the relevant provisions related to issuing visas.” Over 30 NGOs, belonging to the Civic Platform ‘Actiunea 2012’, demanded the withdrawal of the ambassador in Chisinau, Marius Lazurca, whom they accuse of “constant diplomatic blunders,” an offending attitude on the occasion of the National Day of Romania and refusing to issue visas to 7 ethnic Romanians from Moldova.
